Bye Bye Ashy Lifestyle

One of my traditions at the beginning of each year is to create a new batch of homemade shea butter cream. I stopped using regular lotion about two to three years ago when I started making my own concoction of oils and use it as body and hair cream.

The process of making your own body/hair cream is not technical – all you need is raw shea butter (refined or unrefined), raw cocoa butter and any oil of your choice.

I use the double boiler method to melt the butter and add the oils. My assortment of oils include coconut, olive, almond, avocado, rose hip and peppermint for fragrance.

Melting the mixture

See what oils you have and the benefits you can get from each oil. I put the mixture in the fridge for 30 minutes and whip it up with my hand mixer.

I use the whipped butter to moisturize my body and seal my hair. All of the oils I incorporate in my mixture lock in moisture in the skin and keeps it hydrated. I can talk about shea butter all day and night but if you haven’t joined the shea butter family yet, go read on more benefits of it on here.

If you make more than you need, you can always refill your empty lip balm tin or gift your family and friends πŸ™‚

Pro tip: Re use glass tins from old fruit jam or honey to store your butter, thank me later xx
